Blue Ravine

I bought these Blue Ravine clematis about four or five years ago at Kmart. Yeah, Kmart. And I got them for under $2, too!

This year is the most they have ever bloomed and I don't have to do anything to them. I don't even water them! Now that's the kind of plant that I just love. No work- all glory!

however, dont things in wisconsin "just" grow anyway??? in las vegas, not only do you have to water every couple of hours cuz the water evaporates before it soaks into the ground, you almost have to talk the plants into staying alive, "please mr plant, it is worth it! its a dry heat, dont worry, and it only freezes the ground like 4 inches from the top, just grow the roots down further, I swear, its worth it!" and then they die anyway.....

Our weather is so erratic here in Wisconsin that it can be very difficult to get plants to do well. Blazing hot one day, freezing cold the next. No rain for weeks, then torrential downpours for days. High winds and humidity. A plant has to be tough to make it. But on the other hand, we have plenty of the plant essentials- water and good soil.
