10,000!!

Monday, January 30, 2006 | 0 Comments

I feel like I'm in the big league now. 10,000 visits to my blog in less than a year of keeping track of them.

I got the 10,000th Saturday. Whoever is from Everett, Washington; owns a Mac, and came over here from DrMax's blog; YOU ARE THE 10,000th VISIT!!

Geez, I really have to celebrate this.

What to do? What to do?

I know! I'm going to go get my hair done - cut and highlights! I've been meaning to get it done and now I have no excuse not to.

Thanks everybody!!

What will I do ?

What will I do with a single blog start?
Create a few more from my gardener’s heart
What will I do just give out advice
Maybe it’s going to add spice to my life

What will I do when I’m not feeling well?
Post pretty pictures and moan like the hell
What will I do with my son’s new school?
Post a new post and try and stay cool

What will I do if I haven’t a job?
Call on the force to be my new voice
What will I do if I’m sick when I start?
Call 10,000 bloggers to rev up my heart

Wendy A, I've never gotten a pedicure, manicure, or facial before.

Once, I called to find out the hours of a manicure place because I was thinking about getting one either that day or the next. They called me back about an hour later asking me where I was. I NEVER GAVE THEM MY PHONE NUMBER OR SET UP AN APPOINTMENT! Weirdo manicurist stalker!

So if I can find a place that isn't so creepy, I think I might just do that.

Lindsay, you are so talented with your poetry. And of course it is always nice to here such beautiful things about myself!

Feeling Better

Thursday, January 26, 2006 | 0 Comments

I decided to go to the doctor yesterday. Well actually, my employer convinced me. They were very "concerned" about my cough. I knew it wasn't bronchitis yet because I could still breath, but I figured that maybe the doctor could at least give me something for the cough since nothing OTC seemed to be touching it.

I don't have any health insurance right now, so this was looking to be pretty expensive for a visit that might end in a sour look from the doctor and a "There's nothing I can do for you. You'll just have to ride it out." But I really didn't want my boss thinking about making me stay home.

I got a really nice doctor though (those are few and far between around here). It wasn't bronchitis - I knew that.

She gave me something so that I could sleep through the night and something for the tickly cough. I was worried about how much the pharmacy bill would come to, but it wasn't bad at all! One of the benefits of working for a pharmacy. I got two packages of cough drops, a big bottle of decongestant, plus my Rxs for under $13!

And being able to sleep through the night did me a world of good. I feel so much better now! I should be back to normal in a few more days.

And I also feel better about being insuranceless right now. Although the doctor visit will run around $60-80, we paid $150 per month for insurance plus the deductable, so it looks like right now anyway we are saving money not having insurance. I'm still looking around for something affordable, maybe some sort of catastrophic insurance? There's Badger Care, but we have to be without insurance for three months before we can get that. Does that make sense to anyone?

Glad to hear that you are doing better. I know what you mean about 'knowing' it's not bronchitis - I had that once (well, probably more, but ya know) and I swear to GOD I thought my lungs had totally died. Breathing = pain. That was the time I actually quit smoking cold turkey for 6 days. Of course, the 7th day had me going out for smokes again. Ah, memories, aye?

Pink Lady, I did a pretty good job drinking lots of fluids and taking guaifenesin (a must have for cold season! Plus I've been eating clementines and dropping vit C supplements like they were candy. Otherwise I probably would have pneumonia by now!

Indiaiynke, I have had bronchitis LOTS of times! I mentioned before that colds are especially nasty for me because they go straight to my lungs. That's why I get so worried when I get one. Luckily I have only had pneumonia a few times. Yes, bronchitis feels like an elephant has parked its rear on your chest and refuses to budge.

The Doc, thanks. So am I. Now I can finally go to Narnia and my parents' house for a visit!

Oh dear Sylvana, your have such a sore chest
Like this poor poem its not one of my best
A poem for you my poor coughing friend
Whatever it causes it time for its end

For Sylvania chest is as heavy as lead
Her nose is as red as a publicans red head
The bagpipes it seems will mirror her wheeze
Bronchitis won’t go with some haggis and cheese

Awaken the cold it time to p….? off
Take no cough lollies to counter that cough
Don’t bother your chemist he’s coping okay
No need for prescription bloody cold please go away

Trust in your engine fill up with food
Oranges and lemons to alter your mood
Her future is rosy like a rose’s new bloom
Return to your health I do hope so soon

Blogger Sylvana said...

DrMax, my nose is finally clear, now I just have to get all the gunk out of my lungs.

OldRoses, I might be a little off on that amount. I'm going by the visits that we paid to cover our deductible when we had insurance. We'll see when I get the bill.

Elizabeth, do they have good doctors in France? Or is it that they have universal health coverage?

Behrooz, welcome to my blog! Yeah, it's kind of depressing right now, but you can always check out my archives for more interesting stuff!

Shannon, thanks! I was worried that I would still be sick by this coming weekend and that would all around SUCK! But I think that I should be in pretty good shape.

Wendy A, so much of a person's success in life depends on their health. I can't believe that this country hasn't woken up yet!

Lindsay, I have been drinking lots of green & citrus tea, rose hip tea, eating lots chicken soup. It has been helping.
