Sy: Hey those new stamps are kind of pretty.
SSB: Yeah, too bad the Statue of Liberty doesn't look that good in person.
Sy: Why, is she really fat?
SSB: No she's all stained.
Sy: Oh, I bet she looks good from a distance.
SSB: She's a butter face. That's what it's called, right?
Sy: When their face is-
SSB: When everything about a person looks good, but.her.face.
Sy: Oh, that's bad. Why do you hate America?

I understand what SSB is saying because Lady liberties face is stained with bribery and corruption charges looming. She's thinking about the Pilgrim Founders who are all turning over in their graves in disbelief.
The USA's political system is disfuntional in some respects as it it takes 10's of millions to be elected to public office and well into the hundreds of millions for presidential candidates, so the debts have to be paid, as they need to take notice of those donors when their elected. Me thinks Lady liberty is not too pleased.
No maybe SSB sees her face as more like sour cream than butter.I know but-her-face gives away her feelings, its sour cream at the the moment.
It was reported By Tony walker reporting "Washington observed"_ Australian Financial Review to day.6th Jan ...in the 5 years of the Bush Administration the number of registered lobyists in Washington has more than doubled to 34,785.
He reported that Jack Abramoff may have have some interesting stories to tell.
And he commented further about about the secret authorisations of warrantless survellance of American citizens.

That sounds like one of those husband comments that deserves a little smack. :)

Why does dissing the Statue of Liberty mean you hate America? It's not even American, it's French.

I grew up in NYC and have been inside the statue. That thing scares the crap out of me, especially in that scene from Planet of the Apes.

Thanks for the sentiment, Galetea, but I gave up smack years ago...now I'm hooked on Sy.

Lindsay, wow! Our comedy works on so many levels.
Galetea, he's really not that kind of guy. It was purely to make me laugh because we had heard that expression just a couple weeks ago. It would make me laugh because it would be so absurd coming from him.
AG, I would look at her and worry that she would come to life and start destroying the city. Yet another irrational fear.
SSB, awe! You gave up smack for me! That is like a fairy tale come true!- Kari said...
Haha, I really enjoyed that post, I can't think of anything witty to say though, sorry!

Sylvana- it's not an irrational fear.

I would love to see the Statue of Liberty. I don't know that I'd even "see" her, but see the freedom she represents. I dunno. I'd find out when I got there!
- Shamus O'Drunkahan said...
Yeah, good question! What DOES SSB hate America? Just because she's all green and coppery?
- Sylvana said...
Kari, me neither. ;)
AG, AHHH! I'm never coming to New York! Crazy statue monsters!
Indiaiynke, wow, said like a true patriot.
Shamus, maybe he's not into the bird-poop look.- SierraBella said...
I guess a "butter face" is like a 'double bagger?'
Haven't seen the new stamps yet. It'll take my rural P.O. a couple of weeks to get them in, probably!- Elizabeth said...
I think the Statue of Liberty has a nice face. Nicer than most French ladies, anyway.
- Sylvana said...
Sierrabella, well, they'd better hurry because the price change is Monday!!
Elizabeth, is that why they wear so much makeup?- Wendy A said...
I saw the lady liberty back in the late 70's. She is quite a masculine looking lady. Not exactly a thing of beauty. But if you think her face is bad, you really need to get a look at her toes!

LOL. Brilliant.

Wendy A, are they hairy?
Shannon, thanks. If laughing truly is the best medicine, SSB and I are probably the most highly medicated people in the world.
