My New Year tradition is to clear up any unfinished business with friends and family. If there has been anything that I have been meaning to get off my chest, but have been avoiding due to whatever reason, I contact them and let them know what I need to. Well, this year I did it early, so I'm clear to enjoy the day! Yay!
This year has been a pretty big one for me in some ways.
- I graduated from college, FINALLY!!
- My son turned 13. Eek! A teenager!
- SSB stopped working at that slave shop of a factory.
- SSB enrolled in school. WhooHoo!!
- I got my first real grown up bed.
- JD started back to school almost seamlessly!
- It has been a beautiful snowy winter so far.
- AND I made so many friends through my blog! Hey all you guys! You helped make my year!
As for the things that I hope for the new year:
- I hope that things continue to go well for JD in school.
- I hope that I get a really good full-time job with benefits.
- I hope that I get an exercise routine that I can actually stick to.
- I hope that school goes well for SSB.
- I hope that we get all our debts settled easily.
- And I hope to meet even more new people this year!
So here's to a brand new year! And here's to getting rid of your hangovers!

Yeah, I was pretty grateful when the room stopped spinning. Now if I could just walk. I slipped on the dancefloor. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it! Sounds like you had a really fabulous year even if it did end not quite so fabulously. But you have laid the foundation for an even better 2006. Happy New Year to you, SSB and JD!

Let me know if you find a excersize routine that you can stick with. I need that too.

Best wishes from down under-I trust you will have a great year and manage to secure an interesting job position. Congratulation on getting your college degree !!
We have been sweltering with 43 degrees C –and even 46 C up country.
I think that’s about equivalent to 112 on your scale !!
We had some light rain and respite lately, thank goodness, which helped contain bush fires up country .
Up Country- by Dorothea Mackellar
Beyond the yellow levels
The belt of dark belar
That edges the horizon
There is a land afar.
A land of hope and promise,
A land of sweat and toil,
A land of hidden waters,
A warm rich crumbling soil.
The burden of the summer,
That leaves the cracked earth bare,
Yet has no power to stifle
The life that slumbers there.
And when the sky’s hard splendour
Has changed to grey again
The cool soft grey of rain clouds

Sounds like you are going to have a great New Year. My list is similar to yours: graduating, new job, hoping to settle some debts. Best of luck to you!
P.S. Send some snow our way; all we've got is gray skies and rain. We're supposed to have the greatest snow on Earth, dammit!- Shamus O'Drunkahan said...
With your positive attitude, you're already halfway there to meeting all your goals!
Except for the Packers. C'mon, they kinda suck, right? I mean, this year.

OldRoses, glad to hear that you had fun! I am looking forward to the new year, even if things are a little odd right now.
Wendy A, I had a yoga routine that I stuck with for five months last year, but then I went overseas and that was it. Maybe I'll try to get back into that.
Lindsay Lobe, it is about 0 to -10 degrees C here. I would much rather be here. I LOVE SNOW!!
Maria, we've been low on snow for years and we finally have a good haul this year. Go to my gardening blog to see some lovely pictures of the snow.
Shamus, Packers never suck. Well, except for maybe Longwell.- sands of time said...

Just stopped by to say Hi and I like your list of things for the new year. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! :-)

Congrats on your accomplishments for the past year, and especially for graduating from college. That was a BIG accompishment (I know - coming from a 'I've got a couple of semesters in but ...' person).
May the new year bring you just as many wonderful accomplishments!- Sylvana said...
Pink Lady, happy new year to you too!
Gerbera Daisy, thanks! Maybe I'll actually get some things done this year!
Indiaiynke, thanks. I'm just so excited to finally have that done and to know that SSB will be getting a degree too!!- Lightning Bug's Butt said...
Yeah. I suppose Wisconsin would be a great place during Christmas. Especially if you're a serial killer.

the Packers? They still have uniforms and everything?
It's true, they enjoy fervent fan support, but I have to say that they're not the ONLY ones with resilient fans. Of course, they may be the most resilient in cold weather...I mean, after all: Minnesota wussed out and put up a dome so many years ago...- Sylvana said...
LLB, Wisconsin knows how to do it big! We only have had two serial killers, but they are two of the most notorious serial killers of all time: Gein and Dahmer. There was also Joseph Franklin, but he just liked to visit; he wasn't actually from Wisconsin.
Derek, Packer fans are the most loyal, devout fans of any team in the NFL. Their tickets are sold out until the year 2020!! I don't think any other team can touch that!
And I was saying just the other day how MN wussed out with the whole dome thing. AND astro turf. That stuff should be outlawed!! It's EVIL!- Lindsay Lobe said...

If your in the mood for ghostly stories, I for one, would love to hear about these experiences !!
Can you share them with us in a posting down the track !!
Best wishes- "AG" said...
Been busy, late in commenting- happy new year!!!

Lindsay Lobe, you mean the serial killers? Yeah, those two were pretty weird. Maybe someday I will do a post about the infamy of Wisconsin.
AG, Happy new year to you too!!- Elizabeth said...
Wow... congratulations on college. That's a huge achievement, especially with a kid.
I am so wishing you the big benefits job this year. Everyone should have one.- Sylvana said...
Elizabeth: a homeschooled kid, most of the time more than one job, an honor student, a McNair Scholar, and a business owner (I have a couple rental properties that I run with a little help from SSB). And I managed to get a GPA of 3.75. Whew! How did I survive?!
