Coversations At Our House v.4

Friday, December 23, 2005 | 0 Comments

SSB and I were walking back from the post office discussing the stamp price change coming up January 6th.

SSB: I still say that is a very reasonable price for sending a letter all the way across the country.
Sy: Yeah, that's less than the cost of a candy bar.
SSB: Exactly!
Sy: It's less than the cost of caring for a child in a third world country!
SSB: You know, they should use that as a cost measurement instead of a cup of coffee.
Sy: [In a TV spieler tone] "It's less than the cost of caring for a child in a third world country, now that's CHEAP!"

I guess I am a cheapo! I pay all but 2 of my monthly bills online because I feel the post office has enough of my money. I have saved 100.00 on stamps this year.

I'm with Manblogger! I pay my bills online and send email instead of letters. The price of postage keeps going up while the service keeps getting worse. Boycott is the most effective protest I can think of.

Manblogger, I don't trust that online payment. SSB does pay some of our credit cards online, but that's just so they are not late.

Sandy, thanks so much. I think that despite the circumstances, we will have a pretty good Christmas.

LBB, if she could get off her own...

Elizabeth, thanks. I was always surprised at how very little it cost to care for a person in a third world country. Our country is so materialistic that some people see a TV as necessity!

OldRoses, I'm totally for the postal service, even though we often get other people's mail. There are some things that you need to send through the mail. I know a lot of people that do not use the internet. Besides getting a real hold-in-your-hand letter is pretty special.

AG, her commercials always bothered me. There is just something insulting about having an obese person standing next to you telling the world how hungry you are. She obviously isn't giving up any of her food to them!!
