His name is Neo. Isn't he adorable? We adopted him from the Chippewa Falls shelter (Chippewa Falls- home of Leinenkugel's Brewery!! Yummy!!). He is a 2 year old mini-doxie with dapple coloration. Yes, that is one of the doxie colorations. It is not as widely known as the copper or black and tan, but I love it!
Here he is lounging with our other adopted dog, Zero, a rat terrier mix. We've had Zero for four and a half years. He's had a much harder life than Neo. He was abused by his previous owners and was left behind when they moved; outside, in February, in WISCONSIN!! He was there three days before a neighbor finally called the shelter to come pick him up. Poor doggie. It took a long time to work out some of his neurotic issues. He's very paranoid and barks and pees to relieve his anxiety. He's so lucky that he got us!!
Neo is just the easy-going, patient, lovable dog friend that Zero needs to come out of his shell just a little more. Yay, 6000!

congrats on 6000! w00000t!
and a BIG CONGRATS on your new addition! he is adorable!
I would love to get a friend for Sadie - it might help her become a little more sociable. But NOT until we're in a house with a big yard. She's enough to deal with cooped up inside all day!- SierraBella said...
Congrats on both counts!
What a couple of cuties.- Randi said...

I love pets but dogs are my favourite! They both look great.
I wish I could have one but living with a roommate doesn't help and also it's quite difficult to find a place to rent here where they allow pets :(- Derek Knight said...
that dog looks like quite the unfortunate mix of...something.
seriously, it looks like a Dairy Queen® Blizzard flavor treat® gone awry.- Sylvana said...
ESC, these guys are pretty inactive. The extent of their indoor activity involves laying on the couch, barking at people walking by, and following me around the house hoping I'll drop some food.
Sierrabella, thanks!
Randi, is that a euphemism? ;)
Astoria, I thought you were green from the Subway roast beef.
Sandy, I thought so too.
OldRoses, we really got lucky! I called on the way to the shelter to check if they could hold him for us since it was such a long drive. They said that THREE other people called about him after I talked to them! but they were holding him for us :)
Dr. Who, dogs are awesome. My husband always said that he was a cat person, until we got a dog!
Derek, ha! I thought the same thing! Only a yummy mix of Reese and Oreo. Mmmm....*drool*- ORF said...
I am not a dachsund fan because one bit me once as a kid, but I will admit that that first picture is pretty darned cute! I need to figure out how to upload pics of my six-toed cat onto the computer so I can get people to ooh and awww over him :) hehe!

I must admit that, even as an avowed cat person, your new dog is very cute. That doesn't make me any less of a cat person, does it?
- Sylvana said...
ORF, I had a polydactyl once. He would always get caught on things by the "thumb" claws.
TheDoc, no. I'm definitely a dog person, and I have a cat. In fact, I have had several cats. And loved them. Just not like I love dogs. And I don't love dogs like I love horses! Ah! Horses!!- Shannon said...
They're so cute! I love Neo's color!

6000 well deserved hits. Congrats Syl, I will try to locate some Leinies to celebrate. Neo will learn he has a good home soon and I'm sure he'll relax. Is it traditional to get a dog at 6000 hits? Not that I'll ever have to worry about it, but I thought 6000 hits was a belt sander.
- Sylvana said...
I already have a belt sander. And a fab one at that! With dust bag attachment, easy change sanding belt, ergonomic grip, and well placed saftey stop. And it's a pretty blue. Ah! I think I'm going to have to sand something now! Thanks, DrMax!

He has. I can't remember what it was like around here before him.
