Drawing Is My Forte

Tuesday, June 14, 2005 | 0 Comments

I promised that I would post some of my other art. This is a pencil drawing from my sketchbook. I have a few other sketches in there that I think are post worthy too, so there will be more.

I really like drawing animals. I find them so much easier to draw than people. I do have a few fairly good drawings of people, but I think that my drawings of animals and flowers are the best.

Lyvvie: have you seen any seals in Scotland? That was the first time that I saw a seal in the wild. I was running up and down a beach on Orkney and this seal was following me back and forth in the water. Way cool!

Sask 1: Thanks. I was so glad that you commented, because I have been having trouble getting to your blog. It was on my end though. I think it is fixed now.

Sierrabella: Aw, shucks.

I am so envious of people who can draw and have various other artistic abilities. I have two hands just like you; how come I can't even stay in the lines when I color?

Art comes from the mind. This is why musicians can be deaf, yet play fantastically, and painters can be blind, yet paint as if they aren't.

A lot of times people have trouble creating art because they can't get past their preconceived perceptions of an object. Gestalt is a very good example of this. People will see things that aren't really there because of their preconceived perceptions.

And a lot of people have trouble creating art because they are just plain too impatient. This is my problem. I will often start pieces and not finish them, because I have gotten the general idea down and just am too impatient to do the detail work.

That is the strangest looking dog I've ever seen. Does it belong to a neighbor? Because I would tell them to take it to the vet and have the get those paws looked at. They need to take care of injuries like that or.....what's that? A seal? Oooooooooohh......never mind.

We bought a tent last month with the intention of going camping sometime this summer. Our son (JD) was asking when we were going. I told him that we needed to scout out a few camp sites first. Then I said that we might go up to Franklin Lake. He asked where that was.

I said, "Oh, you've been there. That was the place you went with Grandpa." [my dad]

He says, "I don't remember that."

I said, "Oh, yeah. That's the time that you were staying with Grandpa for the week and went camping. And Grandpa and my brother got real drunk and got into that big fist fight with each other at the lake, and someone broke out Dad's windshield."

He draws back, "Oh yeah. I remember now. That was really scary."

I said, "Yeah, but did you like the campground?"

ESC: We don'have official family reunions because not enough of us are ever getting along enough to have one. BUT, when even just a few of us get together, it usually spells T-r-o-u-b-l-e, that's with a capital T.

I found this quiz accidentally. Maybe evil drew me to it. However, I found out that I'm not really evil after all. But that halo above my head isn't just for looks. All through my life my friends would refer to me as "Mom" because I would be the voice of reason and spoil their fun. But it usually ended up saving their asses, so it was all good. However, I was not above a little evil-doing myself and would whip up a little trouble of my own. It's only that I could not allow pointless, unjustified, stupid evil-doing though.

How evil are you?

Drugs Are Bad, M'kay?

Saturday, June 11, 2005 | 0 Comments

When her family confronted her, my in-town-bestfriend's baby's daddy (that is way too long; we'll just call him "The Dude" from now on)...

SO, when The Dude's family confronted his sister, she finally admitted that she has been using (meth of all things, silly girl, and because of a boy no less). She said that she wanted help and would move back home to get clean. I suggested that they get her to a clinic to get it done right. You really don't want to be messing around with this. Besides, people coming down from addictions are no one you want to be living with!

I think she stands a good chance of getting clean since she hasn't been using for that long and the only reason she was doing it, really, was to be close to her loser user boyfriend. She had been telling everyone that she had been losing all the weight because she was eating at Subway. Right!

Interventions don't always go that smoothly. I'm glad that she finally told the truth. If I were The Dude I would go find that piece of shit she was dating and beat the hell out of him and tell him he'd better never come near her again!

I Got My Baby Back!!

Friday, June 10, 2005 | 0 Comments

My friend (my in-town bestfriend's baby's daddy- you know, the one with his head up his ass) was dropping off his little boy and was in the process of telling me how he wasn't sure when he'd be able to pick him up since his whole family was getting together today for an emergency intervention for his sister when the Big Brown Truck came down the road. Oh, I really do feel bad about it all, REALLY, I DO, but, uh, I think that truck is for me.

OH YEAH! My computer! It's back! It's finally back!!! Reunited, and it feels so good! Everything seems in order. They even fixed something that had come loose right before shipping. There is a crack in the top case that wasn't there before, but I knew that was only a matter of time and it doesn't affect the function. And I'm just glad to have my beautiful, wonderful little computer back!!! Ah, computer, I was lost without you! ::Caress, caress. Kiss, kiss.::

Uh, what were you saying about your sister and her drug problem?

Blue Ravine

Friday, June 10, 2005 | 0 Comments

I bought these Blue Ravine clematis about four or five years ago at Kmart. Yeah, Kmart. And I got them for under $2, too!

This year is the most they have ever bloomed and I don't have to do anything to them. I don't even water them! Now that's the kind of plant that I just love. No work- all glory!

however, dont things in wisconsin "just" grow anyway??? in las vegas, not only do you have to water every couple of hours cuz the water evaporates before it soaks into the ground, you almost have to talk the plants into staying alive, "please mr plant, it is worth it! its a dry heat, dont worry, and it only freezes the ground like 4 inches from the top, just grow the roots down further, I swear, its worth it!" and then they die anyway.....

June 10, 2005 10:21 AM

Our weather is so erratic here in Wisconsin that it can be very difficult to get plants to do well. Blazing hot one day, freezing cold the next. No rain for weeks, then torrential downpours for days. High winds and humidity. A plant has to be tough to make it. But on the other hand, we have plenty of the plant essentials- water and good soil.
