My Ticket Out Of Crazy Town

I got a call from the library today asking if I could come back to the job that I had turned down a permanent position for back in 2008. I had turned it down back then because I had so many projects going on at my current job that only I would be able to finish and the fact that the library position would be a night position, ensuring limited time with my son during the school year. This position was eventually filled by a good friend of mine, KD so again, it was still a win situation.

Well, KD is now resigning because he is moving with his girlfriend out of state; thus, the position is open again. I am very tempted to more seriously consider the library job as my son is doing much better in school and my current boss is DRIVING.ME.CRAZY!!! SERIOUSLY!!

I have managed to train in a couple people to do at least some of the things I do there so it wouldn't be too devastating for the company, and we finally got a second pharmacist (who is now thinking about leaving because the boss is driving her crazy too)... she drives everyone crazy, really. I've tried to talk to her, but she just re-reasons situations and people's reactions to fit what she would like to think. She just refuses to see that she is driving people, good people, away.

I knew that KD was planning on moving to be with his girlfriend, I just didn't know he was doing it so soon. When the library called, I already knew that I would say yes to temping the position while they prepared to fill it, but a second chance at the position just opening up like this and dropping into my lap may be a sign. It may be time to move out of Crazy Town.

Do it! That sort of opportunity only comes around once for most people, twice if you're really lucky. I say this is meant to be and it would be foolishness to pass it up a second time!

I love libraries!! You're going to have soooo much fun!!

Mrs. Loquacius, I am a big believer in fate. I don't think that things are run purely on fate, but I know from experience that some things are just meant to be and they will hit you over the head until you let them be. Through temping this position I can get a feel for whether it will be a good fit for me and my family and whether they got some of the fundamental problems with the position sorted yet. One thing that is pushing me to go after this position is that I do not trust my current boss. She's fickle, and even though I know I rock the hell out of my job, she and I don't get along very well, and it is only a matter of time before that is just going to be too much for either of us and I am going to be jobless; and she will talk badly of me. She has done it with some other past workers who were great workers - but they left, so she felt that they were crap for abandoning her.
I'm telling you - CRAZY TOWN!

First of all, HI! I just remembered that I used to have a blog and more importantly, remembered your blog! :)

Second of all, working for someone you don't like and even worse, who is not able to reason, is incredibly stressful. At least, it was for me. If you are not appreciated, it's hard to want to show up to work everyday. I hope you take the other position. It sounds like you really want it and clearly they want you since they remembered you!

Kari!! I missed you! Thanks for stopping by -- and you are so right. Everyone here is already saying how great it is to have me back and at least one is wondering if I am applying for the position :) I worked here for 8 years and still like everyone. That's saying something, right?
