WTF!

Wednesday, May 25, 2005 | 0 Comments

I apologize. My last post totally screwed up my blog and now I have to try and figure out how to fix it. What a pain in the ass! I don't know how long it will take me to figure it out. If you have any suggestions email me at sylvanablog@yahoo.com

Update #1:
Alright- I did at least get it functioning, but I had to revert back to a virgin template. How can publishing one little post create such a mess?

Update #2:
OK. I think I have it fixed. Now back away carefully so as not to set off anything. Cross your fingers that this lasts! Oh, and weirdly enough, my comment link is even better than before even though I didn't do anything to it. Whatever. I guess I was due.

What happened exactly? My blog just 30 seconds ago went all screwy and won't view right in IE anymore - just like OhReallyFactor's

The bottom 2/3 of my blog went pink bleedy again and then the side bar stuff moved into my posting area and sort of shuffled and layered. I lost the comment buttons for some of my posts and I even lost a few of my sidebar toys. I have no clue what happened because all I did was post.

My best guess was that I had something in the sidebar stuck where it shouldn't have been and it was just a ticking time bomb. I've since then reorganized everything in the sidebar and I cross my fingers everytime I post.

My Backyard

Tuesday, May 24, 2005 | 0 Comments

My Backyard
This is an overhead picture of my main garden (click on the photo to see it better). I took this picture the day after my graduation party. I might post another later once the plants grow a little more.

I have been working on this garden for over seven years. It originally was a weedy lawn area. I unfortuately don't have progression photos, so you will just have to use your imagination.

This garden only takes up less than 1/6th of the entire yard, but I have five other gardens in other parts of the yard, too. We also have an area about 60'X90' of lawn to play in.

You may be jealous now. ;)

Wow, that's just...wow. It's really nice. I'm all a-jealous: my yards have no room for gardens or anything like that. When I get my own place in a few years, I'm going to enlist your help for design, that's for sure.

Jealous doesn't even begin to describe my feelings. Not only will I immediately cease and desist posting pictures of my pathetic backyard but I may even close down my blog where I brag to the entire internet about my pathetic backyard. I'm going to go hide now.

That's a nice tract of land you've got there, Sylvana. (Bob, points if you get the reference!!!)

Also, backyard! HA!!! I got nothin, but I DO have a Beer Garden in my neighborhood and once you're two pints in, the lack of flowers is totally not noticable.

Mentos Moment

Tuesday, May 24, 2005 | 0 Comments

You know that new Mentos commercial with the birds all singing a dance song? I swear I heard the birds in our neighborhood singing that song at 6:30 Sunday morning this last weekend. It was rather spooky actually. Not cute at all.

What's creepy to me is I remember when that song came out in the early 90's as a dance hit and that I still remember the words.

With my new job, I surf the web alot. I bought my oldest son an Apple Ipod for his birthday. But now my daughter wants one too. On another site I found out about an advertising scheme that gives them away for free. Sounds to good to be true, I know. But after googling for an hour it looks legitimate. So I thought I'd pass along the info for anyone else on a tight budget.

Maytime Tulips

Monday, May 23, 2005 | 0 Comments

These tulips are some of SSB's favorite tulips. They are lily tulips and are yet another easy to grow tulip. These were planted about five years ago and started with just five bulbs. There is one flower per bulb- so they have more than doubled in that time. In fact, I really have to get around to dividing this fall!

Well, here is yet another one of those things that I have found to waste my time. This is supposed to use your birthday to tell you a little something about your personality. Of course none of these things have been proven to be either scientifically valid or reliable; however, they still seem to be eerily accurate. How do they do it?

Your Birthdate: March 26

Your birth on the 26th day of the month (8 energy) modifies your life by increasing your capability to function and succeed in the business world.

In this environment you have the skills to work very well with others thanks to the 2 and 6 energies combining in this date.

There is a marked increase in organizational, managerial, and administrative abilities.

You are efficient and handle money very well.

You're ambitious and energetic, while generally remaining cooperative and adaptable.

You are conscientious and not afraid of responsibility.

Generally sociable and diplomatic, you tend to use persuasion rather than force.

You have a wonderful combination of being good at both the broad strokes and the fine detail; good at starting and continuing. This birthday is practical and realistic, often seeking material satisfaction.

I got this from Karla's Blog.

Mine was a bit off-base- however it did mention my desire for logic. The ex used to call me "Mr. Spock" (as opposed to Dr. Spock.)

Most of mine didn't really fit with who I am including this which was way off:
"You have a warmhearted nature and emotional understanding that constantly seeks affection.
You are more prone than most to become depressed and moody, as emotions can turn inward and cause anxiety and mental turmoil.
It can be hard for you to bounce back to reality when depression sets in."

I think I am the least dpressed person I know.

At least that is what my shrink tells me. ;-)

mine is Dec. 5

"With a birthday on the 5th of the month you are inclined to work well with people and enjoy them.
You are talented and versatile, very good at presenting ideas.
You may have a tendency to get itchy feet at times and need change and travel.

You tend to be very progressive, imaginative and adaptable.
Your mind is quick, clever and analytical.
A restlessness in your nature may make you a bit impatient and easily bored with routine.
You may have a tendency to shirk responsibility"

hehe...tendency??? more like BLATENT!

"You have 3 energy which means you will watch whatever is on the TV if you can't reach the remote.

You have a natural ability to confuse people and make them squirm in embarassment for you when you speak.

You sometimes eat too much cheese, which tends to bind."

Wow, that was like looking in a mirror!
